Friend son has wrote comparing those who tweak their weblogs with those that tweak their cars. An apt comparison in my mind.

By building my own I get full control over look and features, much like a tinkerer building a car in the garage during their spare time. It may not be the most efficient or most well built blogging tool but it's powerful and gets the job done. *floors it and rattles the windows in the neighborhood*

Radio is like that old Civic. Lots of tweaks and after market parts, but in the end you're still driving a Civic, with 100,000 miles on it.

MovableType is the Rally Class of weblogging tools. It's the Focus, Lancer or Imprezza. It's a small package that packs a lot of power and you can trick it out and ride in style.

I love the rally class cars, but I enjoy building from scratch more.
