Ever since I started the Babe Log I've gotten a ton of hits for these models. Not complaining, but still.
AOL Booty Call
AOL just called me up to get me to come back to their service. They knew I used a Mac, but not Mac OS X. They talked about Apple's Quicktime Media Player, what Mac user doesn't have it already?
Anyway after the sell I said no and that was that.
Unison is Now Good
Back in February I blogged about Unison sucking up huge gobs of real RAM when downloading binaries.
Well the new 1.5 release fixes that, so go get it.
Of Passivity
So after serving as assistant manager at this KB Toy Outlet for nearly 18 months an open store manager position became available. I applied. I was passed over. This obviously doesn't sit well with me. I was passed over for a person who has been with the company for less than 6 months. This really doesn't sit well with me.
This has had one affect on me, besides furthering my bitterness and hatred of things in general. It has made me retire my passive job search and replace it with an active one. Passively searching for a job is fine if you're relatively happy with the current one. Looking out for easy positions that might be open, letting them come to you.
I am searching now, I am looking for them, I will find them. I have turned in four applications for four different management positions and have had two immediate interviews with good results.
I will find more. I will leave.
Gundam SEED: Phase 20
Welcome to the PLANTs. This serves as a set up episode for the next story arc. Athrun meets with the annoying Lacus Cline and they discuss their mutual relations with Kira Yamato. Meanwhile Patrick Zala, Athrun's father, calls for a renewed strike on Earth called Operation Spit Break and ends up in a debate with Lacus' father, Siegel Cline, over the correct course of action. We learn quite a bit in their dialogue. We learn that Patrick leads a school of thought of separation of coordinators and naturals, even if it means death of all the naturals. Most importantly we learn through Siegel that coordinator birth-rates have fallen drastically and that if this trend continues there will be no coordinators left and that rejoining the naturals is the only way to survive.
The rest of the episode sets up the battle between Kira and the resistance and the ZAFT forces in africa.
Scion TC
The Scion TC looks like what the Nissan Sentra should look like.
Engadget FUD
When the heck does Engadget publish such blatant rumors without qualification?
“...at least it’ll make it a bit tougher for Apple to justify raising the current 99 cents they’re charging for downloads.”
That rumor surfaced months ago when parties with no relation to Apple started publishing stories that songs will raise 30¢ and albums by a few dollars. Apple came out and said that that's not true and the stories died. Now they're back?
Beach Volleyball
This Olympics has had one break out sport. In a games filled with ho-humness and the typical staid water events Beach Volleyball has lit up the court. Fueled by sun, sand and fierce competition beach volleyball made a huge impression on the world.
Dominated by the play on the court the fans in the stands shared some of the spot light, especially Marcello the Superhero the super-fan for Brazil. Dressed in a yellow body suit, blue spandex speedos over them with a green and yellow wig he alone examplified what is special about beach volleyball, emotion.
Canceling AOL for Broadband
If you want to have some annoying fun sign up for the free trial of AOL for broadband and then cancel it.
The first step will be an incredibly ineffective computer automated system. After asking for why I called and giving me the 5 options, doing a slight pause where I said "Cancellation" it then gave me 3 more options! After failing to get what I said it does it again. After the second failure it offers me regular touchtone options. After getting my account info it puts me on hold for a human representative.
The lady picks up the phone and goes into a sales pitch about her wanting to make my online experience better. Jeez, it's like she wasn't informed I was canceling. When I told her I was canceling she was saddened then started selling me on keeping the service. Asking me what I looked at, what I didn't like about it, what AOL offers that you can't get elsewhere, or is included free and pay elsewhere. She mentioned three things that when added together is less than AOL for broadband's monthly fee.
Getting tired of it, and how long it was taking for a conformation code to come through, I told her to stop selling me on the service, which she flatly denied trying to do, and all I wanted to do was cancel my account. All she was trying to do, according to her, was help me.
After 10 minutes of this, and a few "All I want to do is cancel my account"s from me I got my confirmation number and a curt "I hope you have a better day."
Read a much better account of breaking up with AOL.
